WHY

RESPONSIBILTY

Responsibility that extends beyond the product.

Founded on accountability

Founded on accountability.

Corporate responsibility goes beyond creating an environmentally conscious product. It's about bringing that product to market responsibly — from design and application to marketing — and using our resources to make a positive impact in the world.

Born from a sense of responsibility.

We originally developed BioYarn technology to address our own needs, but quickly realized that sharing it with the world would have the greatest impact.

As industry veterans in textiles, we found ourselves in a difficult position. Many of the products we made were crafted from synthetic materials like polyester, valued for their durability and performance — products designed to last. While we used polyester made from recycled bottles, we couldn't ignore the question: What about the plastic pollution we were contributing to? We knew we needed a solution that allowed us to create durable products while also addressing their environmental impact at the end of their life.

After an extensive search for a viable solution, we found none. So, we created one. We assembled a team of researchers and scientists to develop and test technology that would allow synthetics to biodegrade in the environment at rates similar to natural fibers like wool, without compromising their durability during use.

And that's how BioYarn additive technology was born.

Ethical business model

Ethical business model

Biodegradation of plastics, including synthetic microfibers, becomes beneficial when accidental leakage into the environment occurs, material recovery is impractical, or a recycling infrastructure is not yet in place.

We carefully manage the sales and distribution of BioYarn technology, offering it exclusively to BioYarn Certified Manufacturers. This ensures it is used by trusted partners for genuinely sustainable applications. Our approach also allows us to uphold quality control and ensure traceability. We do not target applications for single-use plastics, such as straws, where their use is unnecessary.

Ethical marketing

When marketing BioYarn technologies, our aim is not to impress, but to clearly define our commitment. Here's how you can trust that our branding and claims align with our mission:

  • Compliant brand messaging: As required by law, we do not label our products as biodegradable. Instead, we emphasize the true benefit — reducing plastic pollution.

  • No misleading claims: BioYarn has been scientifically proven to accelerate the biodegradation of polyester and nylon in environments such as soil, wastewater treatment plants, landfills, and seawater. However, our marketing is grounded in reality and makes no false promises. Due to the varying temperatures, microbial diversity, and other environmental factors, we cannot guarantee specific biodegradation timelines. Therefore, BioYarn products will never be marketed with unrealistic or exaggerated claims.
